Due to ongoing issues in one of Hibernia Networks Amsterdam new core routers, they will need to do an emergency maintenance to swap out the chassis.
Earlier this week they had already replaced all cards and optics in this device, which doesn’t resolve the issue.
At this point all problems point to a backplane issue in the chassis itself, as this is the only part of the device that hasn’t been replaced.
As this is a core device in the Hibernia Networks Amsterdam network, it may not directly cause customer downtime as this device only routes the Hibernia Networks IP backbone.
However due to the scale of this maintenance, there is a service at risk factor involved for customers and will involve rerouting several paths to other sections on our backbone, with latency shifts and MPLS circuit failovers being involved.
